Although part of a Barcelona restaurant chain, the incredible plethora of press surrounding this gorgeous tapas restaurant is testimony to its success in a highly competitive market. Situated in the heart of the Borne district, nestled neatly at the edge of a very romantic square, Taller de Tapas offers everything the discerning tapas-taster could want. For lunch it's especially good in the summer because of its outside seating, although due to the soaring temperatures, the later months are probably preferable. Inside the restaurant itself, a funky mix of modern lighting combined with exposed, original brickwork offers a great combination of old Barcelona tapas with its trend towards modern decor. A glass casing of almost unreal looking calamari, langoustine, clams and enormous hunks of fresh tuna in the bar area entice one towards the seafood dishes, but also on offer are dishes made of artesan farmhouse sausage, fillet of beef and sautéed wild seasonal mushrooms. Although the wine list isn't extensive it's very carefully chosen so you'll find a perfect match for whatever it is you eat, and if you're unsure of what that is, the very friendly wait staff will no doubt be able to create the perfect combination of tapas for your palette.
